Afraid Of Heights

Billy Talent / Warner Music Co

We had the pleasure of creating this exciting sci-fi short for Warner Music Canada and Billy Talent.  The story revolves around a young scientist who is on a mission to save a mysterious & angelic clone from a gang of cult-like masked men.  The narrative is set in a dystopian future where giant monolith structures have been placed across the earth as Alien markers.

OUR APPROACH

The film was shot over the course of 3 days in Ontario and was written & directed by our own Alon Isocianu.  reactiv was responsible for the entire production, from concept to delivery - including all post production & visual effects.

THE MONOLITHS

The ominous monoliths in the video represent an oppressive alien governing force. The monoliths themselves are markers, and also act as mind-control “cell towers” that disperse low frequency micro-waves between one another. The design of these monoliths needed to feel organic but alien. It had to feel large, official, but not human-made. On set we erected green-screen or blue-screen placeholders that we later replaced with our computer-gernerated monoliths. These monoliths were composited onto the live-action footage.
