Husky / Blackjet
Our friends at Blackjet brought us onboard to direct, design, produce, and finish a series of EXPLOSIVE films for manufacturing solutions giant Husky. We were challenged with finding a way to showcase the way Husky BREAKS through the competition with tools that allow their clients to create beautiful and efficient containers. The goal was to create a series of stylized films that were both artful and eye-catching.
The visual goal was to create a symphony of beautiful, slow-motion colorful explosions. We decided that the most organic approach was to photograph generic containers exploding using a high-speed camera in studio. The generic white containers intentionally appear bland and uninspiring against a clean white backdrop. This makes the explosion of colorful liquids appear all the more vivid and vibrant when the containers shatter.
We then worked to bring to life photoreal CG versions of concept containers from Husky. These glossy, vibrant containers form from the explosions of the generic containers – representing the beautiful possibilities that come from using Husky’s technology. We created new containers (and animated existing ones) in a way that showcases the plethora of unique features that Husky products have. We then used our mograph chops to create intricate & dynamic animated type that highlighted these features.
We created photoreal CG containers based on concept designs from Blackjet. We then digitally fractured them to create the “reverse explosion” effect.
This promotional film was created a follow-up to last year's piece we created for Husky which featured a lot of colorful explosions set to an epic score.
Prior to last year's shoot we created 3D pre-vis frames for each “generic” container to help visualize the color scheme and composition of each shot.
