hailing from the small, snow and ice encrusted border town known as the Bay of Thunder, Derek Smith views growing up in a small town as an advantage to his craft.  In the same way a Canadian comedian makes observations of his neighbours to the south, Derek enjoys and celebrates the absurdities of day-to-day life.  This, in combination with his knack for developing quirky concepts, has afforded him great acclaim including 2 Cravefest International Music Video Awards as well as honours in Editing and Cinematography for his work in short films.  Derek continually strives to bring originality to all his projects.  On a related note, the one side effect that comes with growing up in a small town: Derek believes that man evolved from the Sasquatch.
